Based between Bangalore and Normandy, I develop a pictorial and textile practice focused on the representation of women, from overlooked historical figures to contemporary identities, at the crossroads of Europe and India.
I grew up in a small village of Normandy in a family of artists before studying drawing and painting in Paris through life drawing and painting classes at the Beaux-Arts, the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and Atelier Artmedium, and later continuing my artistic exploration in London at the Battersea Art Centre.
Drawing from both European and Indian artistic traditions, my work creates a dialogue between the Flemish Primitives, Ingres, Gauguin, Mughal miniatures, Company paintings and the legacy of Amrita Sher-Gil. Through a practice combining oil painting, digital textile printing and embroidery on silk, cotton and linen, I develop a female gaze on the representation of women, at the intersection of the sensory, the symbolic and cultural memory.
Alongside my artistic practice, I also engage with cross-cultural questions between France and India through my involvement with an Indian law firm, with a particular focus on the prevention and redressal of workplace sexual harassment under Indian POSH law. Grounded in field experience, this engagement informs my broader reflection on women, identity and representation.
My work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in India and France and is part of private collections in Europe, the United States and India.
